RIVER RAFTING
APURIMAC (Peru): 6 days/5 nights
"Speaker of Gods". Rated among the best of world class rivers. The Apurimac is
the most direct source of the mighty Amazon and could be considered the longest in the
world.
Five hours drive from Cusco we put in at 2000 Mt. After lunch the rafting starts. During
four days we will raft class III - IV and few class V rapids, sleep under the southern
stars by the river in double tents and cook our meals in a fireplace as we shared our
experiences of the day. In this remote and isolated canyon, wildlife can be spotted. River
otters, bob cats, foxes and torrent ducks are commonly found around here. At some point we
have to do a 300 Mt portage, the Narrow Canyon rapid has never been dared to raft, an we
will not this time. The last day after take out we will enjoy a farewell
"parrillada". Names as "space odyssey" "bam bam" "dolor
de muelas (tooth ache)" "you first" and "last laugh" will linger
for long time in your memory because they will bring to your life unforgettable
experiences that only river rafting provides.

TAMBOPATA - CANDAMO (Peru)
12 days / 11 nights.
Reception at Lima's airport and transfer to hotel. Next day after breakfast transfer to
airport to take the flight to Juliaca and start the program described below
From the famous lake Titicaca to the amazon tropical rain forest. A great expedition for
river fans and lovers of the great outdoors and isolated places on earth. We start in
Juliaca and Puno by the Titicaca lake visiting the Uros Island a place where time stopped
long ago and where the community way of life still persist. This island belongs to the
Titicaca National Reservation Park.
Next day a truck takes us through the altiplano and Cordillera over 4500 Mt. and down to
the tropical rain forest where we put in. Our professional guides give a complete
checklist over the equipment and a briefing on safety rules for the next days.
Our route is now the highway system of the Jungle, RIVERS. We leave behind the last sight
of civilization and enter into the world of the Shamans, Ayahuasca, the jaguar, the
capybara, the tapir, 13 species of monkeys, 500 species of birds and many more creatures
The mystery of the Rain Forest is ahead of us to discover and enjoy. After floating for
six days in self bailing rafts, sleeping by the river in double tents and running class
III and IV rapids we arrive to the world renowned Macaw Link our last camping place. Now
we are in the Candamo River. At down we will be able to observe the Macaws. The final leg
of our trip is by motorized dugout canoe to Puerto Maldonado to spend the last night of
this unforgettable adventure. Next morning after breakfast transfer to the airport to take
the flight to Lima. Reception at airport and transfer to hotel. Next day transfer to
airport to take flight to next destination.

COTAHUASI EXPEDITION.
13 days / 12 nights.
A combination of trekking with river rafting. We start in the southern city of Arequipa
"the white city" by the Misti Volcano. City tour and visit to the Santa Catalina
Cloister. Next day we drive towards the Cotahuasi River to Aplao in point two days ahead.
A drive through high passes of more than 5000 Mt by the Coropuna Glacier (sleeping volcano
of more than 6000 Mt) bring us to the village of Cotahuasi to camp and enjoy the local hot
springs. A 7 hour trek down this Canyon considered twice deeper than the Colorado and
deeper than the Colca take us to the Sipia Water fall and finally following an ancient
Inca Trail, to the put in point in the Cotahuasi river. For six days we will be rafting
over 160 Km of continuous class IV and V rapids exploring pre-Inca ruins with ceramics,
textiles and Inca tombs still untouched. The last day we drive from the take out point to
Arequipa to participate in the farewell dinner. Next morning transfer to airport to take
the flight to your next destination.

Jacu River – Misahualli and Anzu rivers

Day 1
Quito – Tena: B/fast and depart
towards the Amazon basin. Before Tena you will stop in Papallacta
thermal springs for a refreshing swim in its healthy waters. Lodge in
a Jungle resort.
Day 2
Tena – Jatun Jacu River:
Rio Jatunyacu (upper Napo River) is a big volume, clear water river
that has long straightforward rapids perfect for the intermediate paddlers.
The calm pools allow plenty of time to enjoy the magnificent
rainforest and Andean Mountain views. For the advanced boater
there is also some great play.
Short transfer to our launching point, where the road ends
deep in the Jungle. Crystal waters, big waves and class III rapids
will make our journey a memorable day. Overnight in a Jungle Lodge.
Day 3
Misahualli River: Rio
Misahuallí is
a bustling and somewhat
remote port at the juncture of the rivers Napo and Misahuallí.
The village was the original Ecuadorian jungle tourist outpost,
and after dozens of years and despite the entrance of Tena and other
jungle towns into the tourism market, is still a popular starting
point for jungle tours and canoe trips.
The town of Misahuallí offers well-developed, though
rustic, tourism services, including good craft shops, cafes, and
lodging. The Upper Misahualli holds Class IV-V rock dodging action.
The Rio Misahualli boasts
clear, warm water, polished granite boulders, jungle shoreline, and
children swimming near indigenous.
Transfer
to Misahualli River, one of the most spectacular rafting trips in
Ecuador. This river flows through a magic jungle canyon, surrounded by
waterfalls and unforgettable class III – IV rapids. Overnight in a
Jungle Lodge.
Day 4
Anzu River: Rio Anzu joins Alto Napo near Puerto Napo - river usually runs clear
boatable flows b/w 500cfs ~ 2500cfs Upper section of Rio Anzu - great
Class IV run put in can be tuff to find - run mellows with lower elevation.
Transfer to Anzu River for our last rafting experience
before returning to Quito. Hotel Sierra Nevada. Evening farewell
dinner.

Quito: B/fast. Transfer to the airport to take

Day 1
Quito - Macas: Breakfast.
Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Macas. Transfer to
Lodge. Briefing on Upano’s rafting program.
Day 2
Upano: Breakfast. Transfer
to put in point for the departure of the rafting. Fantastic views and
challenging rapids III –IV. Waterfalls,
vast wilderness and a fresh jungle. Birds, colorful butterflies,
flocks of parrots are frequently seen. Overnight in campsite
Day 3
Upano: The lower section of
the Upano is a very long canyon with several caves to be explored. Big
rapids class III and IV surrounded by an impressive Jungle. Overnight
in Campsite.
Day 4
Upano: Another day with
more rapids and awesome Jungle life. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 5
Upano - Macas: Put out, pack all
the equipment and return to Macas. Overnight in Hotel
Day 6
Macas – Quito: Transfer
to the airport to take the flight back to Quito. Transfer to Hostal

expeditions has a high cost due to the remoteness of the area. We have
